In brief

  • An implant and the denture it supports are separate parts.
  • Brushing and cleaning the accessible areas must be adapted to the restoration.
  • Movement, pain, bleeding or difficulty cleaning should be discussed promptly.

Lifespan cannot be promised

An implant and the denture it supports are separate parts. How they fare depends on the health of the tissues, cleaning, the forces they bear and check-ups. A lifespan quoted in advance does not tell you what your own result will be.

Look after the tissues around the implant

Brushing and cleaning the accessible areas must be adapted to the restoration. The clinic can show you the instruments that help. An implant does not remove the need to look after your gums or to have the denture checked.

Report any changes

Movement, pain, bleeding or difficulty cleaning should be discussed promptly. Do not try to tighten or repair a component yourself. Keep the system references and the treatment documents for follow-up.
