In brief

  • A complete removable denture and an implant-supported reconstruction do not work in the same way.
  • The examination looks at your gums, remaining teeth, chewing and any dentures you already wear.
  • Ask how the temporary period, healing and the making of the denture will be managed.

Compare fixed and removable

A complete removable denture and an implant-supported reconstruction do not work in the same way. The choice depends on your mouth, your bone, your general health, the upkeep you can manage and what you expect in terms of comfort.

Understand the role of the assessment

The examination looks at your gums, remaining teeth, chewing and any dentures you already wear. Imaging may add to this assessment. The number of implants and the stages are not chosen from the name of a technique alone.

Plan the stages and follow-up

Ask how the temporary period, healing and the making of the denture will be managed. Immediate loading is not routine. Check-ups and cleaning remain necessary whichever solution is chosen.
