In brief

  • Sensitivity may be linked to receding gums, wear, a cavity or another problem.
  • A veneer is a restoration, not an automatic answer to sensitivity.
  • Ask how temporary veneers will be managed and which sensations you should report.

Find the origin of the sensitivity

Sensitivity may be linked to receding gums, wear, a cavity or another problem. Treatment is not decided on this symptom alone. Tell the dentist what triggers it and how long it lasts.

Assess before covering the tooth

A veneer is a restoration, not an automatic answer to sensitivity. The condition of the tooth and any preparation needed should be discussed. An active problem may need treatment before a cosmetic project.

Arrange suitable follow-up

Ask how temporary veneers will be managed and which sensations you should report. Hygiene advice and monitoring remain important after the veneers are fitted. Pain that persists or changes in character needs a new opinion.
